Hi Tom, 

You can do it with the engine in the car. I did it on our 1957 300C while I
was changing the rod and main bearings my years ago.

I'm considering replacing the rear crankshaft main seal on my 300H. Some say
I have to have the engine removed. Are there any shortcuts?
