Hi All,
I got some news for some of you that I have never heard on this forum. I
learned this from the below link. My push rod adjustment on the power brake
booster was set too far out. READ BELOW
http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/mtsc/187.pdf (see under paragraph
'Dragging Brakes') page 9 and POWER BRAKES page 11
"If the adjustable master cylinder push rod in the brake booster is too
long, the piston won't uncover the compensating port in the master
cylinder." The fluid will be trapped and the wheel cylinder pistons won't
come back.
I took the master cylinder cover off to check for "turbulence" when the
pedal was pushed down and then released. I saw no "turbulence", which means
the fluid was not coming back in the master cylinder.
Conculsion: If the power brake booster adjustment rod is too far out, the
brake fluid will not go back into the master cylinder and the brakes will
drag. It was not the hoses. It was the piston/compensating port.
Now, everything is fine.
I would encourage all of you that have brake issues to read the attached
"BRAKE SERVICE". I learned a lot, including how to diagnose 'Brake Chatter'
and other common issues.
300ly,
Mark Lindahl
