Ron, This topic was first discussed at Meet business meetings as far back as 2010. The first was hosted in June, 2011 by Larry Jett at Carmel, California. A number of factors were involved for making it a Sunday to Thursday venue but the meet attendance was swell. I have not heard at all an issue by club members over not attending meets whether beginning mid-week or on a Sunday. So I am only stating the facts that I discovered in planning my 5th Meet that I have hosted but the first for a Sunday through Thursday schedule and it is also s first for me to host a spring meet. Most club members' dominant buying motive for attending meets is to see their club friends and meet hosts try to make the cost involved as inexpensive as possible but in a nice environment and provide opportunities for club members to see interesting things in the area were the meet is held whether automotive related or not. I remember being limited to vacation time at many meets where I had to cut short my attendance to get back to work and it was sad not to stay for the whole meet. 300’ly, Rob Kern
Hey Rob -
So you don't feel that less folks/cars would be able to attend
if the meet is mid-week than if it's Thursday thru Sunday ? For example, I would
fly in on Thursday and stay thru Sunday, taking two vacation days. If the
convention is Sunday thru Thursday, then I would have to take minimum four
vacation days. This is a 'deal breaker' for me (and likely for others). Cheaper
rates vs. more club members in attendance.
Has this shift been discussed in the club's business meetings
?
Thanks,
Ron
Hello 300’ly to all!
The mid-week
rate is less expensive…confirmed by my getting ready to sign contract for the
spring, 2019 meet I am hosting in Lewisville, Texas (Dallas). It will be
from Sunday April 28th to Thursday May 2nd (departure date). Rate is $20
per night less and meeting room rental rate is $100 less. More event times
are available Monday through Wednesday also. So stay tuned for Riding to Dallas
Folks! Rob Kern
>Now that most club members are
retired...
I'm willing to bet 1.00 USD that this is factually
inaccurate. Just sayin'...
Ron
Now that most club members are retired, and I believe the
last two meets were also during the week. The room rate was much less and
tourism is much lighter during the week making it easier to get places. And
like Gloria mentioned it was to work with the Hemmings Show.

Mid-Week ?
Sure
Ron,
Some
300 owners have been invited to show their 300s in the concours listed below
as one of the featured marques. So it was felt that a nice segue and
non-competing meet would be to have one following the other- Chrysler 300 Club
International Inc. and then nearby the 2018 Concours D' Elegance .. Here is the information on
the Lake George Concours. We hope you can attend both meets.

weekend
The 2018 Concours D' Elegance returns to Lake
George and will be once again celebrating cars. This is a weekend for car
collectors and people who love cars.
The Concours has maintained its
focus presenting a balance of historic, classic and sports cars, along with
vintage trucks and presentation vehicles. Recently, the show has also honored
vintage fire apparatus, police cars and military vehicles. The show is
presented by Gullwing Motor Cars.
Back by popular demand, Wayne Carini,
accomplished automotive restorer and host of the popular television show
Chasing Classic Cars, has been named Honorary Chairman and Keynote Speaker for
the 12th annual Hemmings Motor News Concours d'Elegance.
This year's featured marques will be Prewar
Cadillacs (1942 and older), followed by Chrysler 300 letter cars; the
division's hot luxury performance cars that began with the 1955 C-300 and
culminated with the 1965 300L. Joining these two domestic legends will be a
stellar display of Lotus Road Cars, complemented by a class celebrating the
Cars of Pininfarina. These six classes will be accompanied by our traditional
pre-1974 classes, headlined by Full Classics (as recognized by the Classic Car
Club of America), along with American pre- and postwar cars, American muscle
cars, European cars, Vintage Trucks and Preservation cars. For more
