And don’t forget the beautiful reproduction choke pots for 60-61 ram cars, in stainless steel, another great project by John! Brass castings at first , but they shrink and warp unpredictably, long skinny fairly precision parts not good that way. .... and then came machined injection molds/plastic then plated ones. They could not take temp to put real chrome on them, deformed in bath, spray on “plastic chrome’ does not make it. Have about 50 of them , remnants, not really useable, but got 3-4 I needed. This can be revisited; at the time 150$ seemed high , not now , with value of these cars. We have made a few parts like the cams for push button heater switches, by CNC machining; J-Y Chouinard is running with that,--also we made a few aluminum bronze 300F power window gears by CNC ; (fits others) the ones with nylon teeth on a steel hub will all break sooner or later ; the nylon seems to harden chemically in the grease, cracks on circumference, spins freely . Motor runs , window does not move. Generally , you can break even , if you pick the right stuff, I think. Message is, if you need something, think you can make it, go ahead; you solve your own problem, but may also recover the cost later by selling a few. I have mixed feelings about using club $ for any of this, except most obvious things like medallions , as dissention around which parts , which car line, would arise. Things we might need? Reasonable source for redoing steering wheels, 57-61 brake backing plates with good adjusting cams, kit to change Detroit joint and driveshaft to Spicer, ( we have done that, vibration problems gone) , good 14 X 6.5 or 7” wheels , G taillight housings , rearmost big arm for convertible top linkage in back. . (breaks at main swivel bolt) . Maybe PW switches. Rebuild kit for 57-58 door handles( have done work on that, too) . Just observations,; if you do it ,ad in our publications gets the word out. Where will they be inventoried and stored, who will have this information for the future customers to access? Just curious. Best Regards, Stephen A. I do not know why The Club does not commission parts and warehouse them for members. The idea is if one or two need a part it is logic that others will also need the same, at some point. Albeit a German concept, it is none the less a good one.John From: Jslayton@xxxxxxxxxxxx: chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: Tuesday, April 1, 2014 6:21:04 AMSubject: [Chrysler300] coil brackets I may have some 55-56 dual 4 barrel---coil brackets made-----I need to know if any club members would be interested in buying one ?-----Johnnie Slayton [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to bob@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or go to http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Chrysler300/join and select the "Leave Group" button For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/search.htm#querylangYahoo Groups Links <*> To visit your group on the web, go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Chrysler300/ <*> Your email settings: Individual Email | Traditional <*> To change settings online go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Chrysler300/join (Yahoo!
