Re: [Chrysler300] Mufflers/C

I couldn't agree more. I'd never agree to pay 100% up front, regardless of how reputable I thought they were. You're just inviting trouble by eliminating the true incentive for a company to follow through in a timely fashion.

On custom manufactured stuff I have no objection at all to the practice of requiring 1/3 or even 1/2 deposit to protect against the customer who deals in bad faith. That's just good business sense and we willingly do that all the time - both ways.  But charging 100% before performing any service or buying raw materials is simply using your customer's cash as working capital to do someone else's work.  And that's not fair business policy.

There are major coprorations who operate that way. Our company, a fortune 500 mfgr of radio and tv transmitters would introduce a new model each year of one of our major products. The downpayemnt depost was what we used to finance the completion of the design and manufacturing of the products.

This is a followup to previous postings regarding exhaust systems as you may
want to be aware of how Waldron's processes their orders. It is their
practice, as I just found out in a phone call this morning, to charge your
credit card immediately upon receiving your order - even though the parts
won't be processed or shipped for several weeks. My card was charged 3-1/2
weeks ago, and they told me this morning that my '70 4-4-2 system will be
produced and shipped two weeks from now.

I did tell them that I was disappointed to find that this is their practice,
and that I know of no other business that uses their customers' money so far
ahead of order fulfillment. I will say that in every other way I have been
nothing but pleased with Waldron's, and I have no reason to doubt their
integrity or be wary of whether they will actually come through on
fulfilling my order. They really are good people with an excellent product.
But I thought you should at least be aware of this custom of theirs and
expect it when buying from them.

There's probably little point in getting in their face about it, but perhaps
if they heard from many of us that we find it disappointing, they may
re-think the policy and change it.

I have also had great service from Waldron. I ordered a system while
restoring my Dodge wagon. Two years later I was installing the tailpipes and
found one didn't fit. No problem. Joe made a replacement and had it out the
same week.

Gary,

I have been extremely pleased with both the product and the people at
Waldron's Exhaust in Michigan. I have a complete front-to-back system from
them in stainless steel on my 300C. And just a week ago I placed an order
with them for a complete system for my '70 4-4-2. They really try hard to
get the entire fit as perfect and original as possible; and if they miss,
they are very quick to stand behind it.

Their number is 800.503.9428.
