Fern and all,

The broadcast sheet provides all kinds of info for your particular car, but the data plate on the driver side wheelwell shows the engine code.  Info in my collection of 300L data plates show two different codes under the AB - the first codes under the row of letters.  The vast majority have 99 under the AB.  Some have 71.  Why there were the two different numbers for the same engine is anybody's guess.  Chrysler must have had a reason, but who knows what it was.  Either one stands for the high performance 413 cid with 360 bhp, the only engine available in the 300L.  The New Yorker had 340 bhp.

Gil Cunningham, former Chrysler engineer:  Can you shed any light on why the 99 or 71?

Anybody on here that has the broadcast sheet for their 300L car? What do you show for engine code which is on the third row down and is second from the far right (the far right one is marked "pinion").
