Gary raises a most valid point re chasing/buying 300s - check it yourself, plus that not all 300s will be known.
However as somone who has perhaps owned and bought too many cars, fairly common is what I call 'excited friend car buyer' - a friend who tells you he has found what they think is a real buy/bargain. And sadly it is often way easier to buy a car, than it can be to sell it/one, especially if it needs work.
So I always say to such/many, treat everything told by sellers with much care, as it might be they may be dishonest, or just know nothing more than if car looks shiny on wet days, that does not mean body/paint is 'real great/good', especially if rust, or ral wavy, badly repaired accident damaged panels, etc.?
But there are some real good/honest sellers out there - over last few years, even dealing over phone from Australia, I have had some amazing good experiences, from US people who knew I never would see car or meet them before I bought, even if it not early 300s I buying lately.
 
This grey 300C, if it does not have the fairly common 300C rust, plus it a factory red car, at price asking, is maybe not so bad a deal, even if it needs work of trim and re-paint nature - cheap way to end up with one of nicer rarer 300C colors/cars - that red if done in correct unfaded red is real stunning if it has wide whitewall tires, plus I think register shows only around I think 40 300C coupes of that color in our Club - if so, cannot be too many more chances left nowadays to do a easy factory red 300C car/resto?!.
But if body has rust under the paint in the usual 300C 1st places they rust, then stripping back to do bare metal repaint might find repairs needed re rust that may if worse that hoped run to $10k. Then add maybe months in some body shop, plus Goers full retrim kit/$$$s, maybe chrome that then not show, and the figures add up - but still maybe a cheaper way than finding a total resto project 300C where car has not been driven for maybe 30yrs and stored outdoors or poorly?!

And Gary saying there are other 300Cs around at mid $20s prices is a reflection of how $$$s add up when doing up early 300s.
 
And finally, are the number of 300Cs still being restored thinning out last year or so - Club site now, last year, does not seem to have former activity/posts re such 300C/D/E work - clearly now it seems later 300s being fixed up fully is more common now?
And final final 'supplementary' question - anyone tried to work out percentages, or rough surviving numbers of 300Cs still around that are major unresto projects, cars being restored, original good ones, and/or total restoed cars now?
Simple question, but lots of time to do/know?! But would be good to know - recently I found/saw it was 32yrs to the month ago I bought my 1st 300C, found receipt from when I bought car in LA 1981  - it been a driver a few years now, but still no show car, never may be - boy the years just go/gone.

Fellow gang members, greetings!

Did anyone (perish the thought!) consider calling the number listed. Seems 
these folks are 65+ years old and you don't really know why they are 
selling. By the way, this is not the Gun-metal Gray, $26,500 car. The PA 300-C is 
a beautiful white coupe. Plus not everyone who owns a 300 is a member of 
one of our Clubs.

For some reason, our group is becoming increasingly paranoid when a car 
shows up that doesn't meet their pricing estimates, first reaction "Scam!". 
They aren't all worth the auction house prices. Maybe the seller is being 
foreclosed. I have a 57 300-C coupe I'll sell you for $2600.00. Not a scam, 
just not worth it.

Don't forget, you won't know until you check it for yourself.

My feeling is that it could be a scam - last 2 300C sales I read of were 
Mecum or other Auction House back couple of months ago - coupes, one $70k,

seem to line up

my 2 bobs worth from afar Australia - looking like winter grain crop poor 
season coming in south of nation, based on last few months 'non rain'.

supposedly belongs to a Wayne and Donna Boyd
who live in Carlisle PA. I looked in my roster and they are not listed in 
PA.
