I don't have to deal with the IRS up here in Canada, but for most of us in this club, I think the cars are our hobby, not a business, and I would see little advantage in poking our CRA ( same beast as IRS) with a stick over an occasional transaction of this sort, even if I did make a few bucks. Except for those who have owned these cars for a long time, we probably loose $$ on them if we were to keep track of everything we spend on them. That is certainly my case.
