Re: [Chrysler300] Front Seat Comfort

I cannot speak of the earlier cars, but I have found the seating position in my 1964 Chrysler's quite comfortable. At 6 feet, 4 inches tall, my usual seat adjustment is all the way back (all seats), all the way down (power seats), and a slight rise to the front of the seat (6-way power seat).

The 1964 300's and 300-K's were optional with a 4-way power seat that allowed up/down and forward/back adjustment only and no reclining feature on the driver seat back. This seat was continued in the 300-L. I have always found this seat quite comfortable.

By 1964, Chrysler offered the "up/down, to/frow, tilt" feature on their non-power front seats. They used a two-piece seat pedestal equipped with slots and three adjustment bolts on each pedestal. This allowed the dealer to custom adjust the non-power front seats to the customer's taste. I am not sure when Chrysler first offered this manual adjustment feature, but it did continue it for several years beyond 1964 on all product lines. I have never attempted to manually adjust any of my non-power seats in this manner because I have never felt the need to do so. But it is one of those features that brought distinction to Chrysler products back in the day.

My "two-cents" for what it's worth.

Subject: [Chrysler300] Front Seat Comfort

Does anyone else find the seat position in their Letter Car (particularly the '57 C)to be uncomfortable for long rides? I don't have a power seat in my C, so that may be at least part of the problem, but I doubt that's it entirely.

I'm not that much above average height, but I wish my seat was tilted back a bit, sat just a little higher, and traveled a couple of inches further back. As it is, I get virtually no thigh support as my knees are up in the air when my seat is adjusted all the way back.

I have designed a pair of mount adapters to reposition the seat in a way that I think will likely be very helpful, but I wonder if someone else already has developed a fix. I haven't yet machined them, but just before I do, I thought I'd better ask first. I certainly don't want to be reinventing the wheel.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the factory positioning? Is this a manual seat issue only? Has it been previously addressed? Are other years a problem too?

Thanks for your input.
