There is a little known Ceramic Paint which is an excellent heat shield. If you fabricate an aluminum bracket and plate for a shield, paint both sides with ceramic heat shield paint, it will do what you want.. I once purchased this for my Mexico Road Race car and it worked well. I stopped using it when we started making the car lighter because it was very heavy. I was told it is a product developed by the space industry for reentry. Google: ceramic heat shield paint or ceramic paint for samples and video and check out this site: http://wakefieldmfg.com/RCB.html

John
