I installed gas shocks on my 300F about a year ago and had a tough time getting the new shock in place because the gas shock wants to stay expanded. Recently I rebuilt the suspension and left the shocks bolted in place at the top and removed the lower control arms.
If you can justify it,unload the torsion bars and disconnect the lower control arms at the ballpoint, shock installation is easier that way.
