Maureen and I took ol' 292 into Manhattan at 3:00 a.m. Sunday mornings (late 
1960s). Easy driving and good fun as no one was around. Awesome sounds through 
an empty Lincoln Tunnel and in the concrete canyons that lay beyond. If one 
times the traffic lights and speeds accordingly, one could cruise about 20 
blocks on the avenues without stopping.

Riding with the top down in NYC is also a new experience when it's 95 degrees 
and you get behind a garbage truck and get stopped by a red light under the 
elevated tracks and the train goes overhead...150 decibels of deafening steel on 
steel and the paint chips start falling down...it becomes an enduring memory!
