TinyURLs are probably fine if they are received from people one is acquainted with, but the person who uses these links has no idea where the URL is going to take them. Abbreviated URLs, like TinyURL, are a favorite of the disseminators of viruses, malware, etc. They take the unsuspecting user to a drive-by infected site, where an infection is immediately acquired.

Use them with great caution!!!

  Dave, ebay finally figgered out how to do SHORT links try this method

  www.ebay.com/itm/ then the item number
  so your link would then look like this for this instance

  www.ebay.com/itm/120854538075

  as far as I can experiment, this works with all listings
