Regarding the foam sleeve for the high pressure power steering hose, I just
changed mine and found a foam substitute from a very unlikely source, your
local pool supply place. It's called a "sweep hose scrubber" and slides
onto the end of the pool sweep hose. It is a round, black foam piece about
2 inches long with a hole on the middle that you slide over the PS hose pump
fitting and then down to the position you want it to be. they cost about
$3.00, it is a Polaris pool sweep replacement part. It is not a dense foam,
somewhat larger cell structure than pipe insulation foam, but it fits great
and looks good (at least I think so). I would think pipe insulation would
also work, but I have not been able to find it un-slit anywhere.

Hi Dave,
I put new steering hoses on my J this spring. The factory correct h/p hose
with the foam sleeve is no longer available; not even through Goers. But
hoses that work and fit and look OK are readily available through your
favorite auto parts store. I got mine at O'Reilly, Powercraft #70329 (made
by Edelmann) for $23. Gates part # is 352700. I think NAPA part # is 7829
and the price should be about the same. '64 K uses the same steering hoses.

Finally, found the exact leak on power steering hose. With wheels turned,
and 413 idling, the H/P- was just a streaming onto every thing!
Outside of getting a NAPA redo, is there a source that may have new units?
What a mess..
Thanks, cleaning up in Va.
