[Chrysler300] 1958 300D transmission shifting problems

Put a rebuilt trans back in the car last week

Trans does not downshift back to 1st gear when I come to a stop & take off
also will not kick down when pedal is put to the floor

Car will shift into all the gears with the buttons

Any suggestions would be appreciated
