That's been true for a few years. 
With much more precision and modern manufacturing abilities, they stopped offering matched belts some years ago. 
For those who don't know, belts are made like a long tube and then sliced off, one after another. 
Matched belts were consecutively cut and tied together so as to be as much the same as possible.
I can remember refusing to install only one belt of a set when "Only one broke". 

The same has happened to Taper Roller bearings, instead of a set,  you now buy a bearing and an outer race and a inner race.
