I'm going to chime in with an "Amen" here on Jeff Carter. What I've found with Jeff is that he's normally not the quickest (except by special arrangement) nor the cheapest source for about anything. But he's a super good guy in many ways, and few people anywhere have a more comprehensive knowledge of all the fine points and nuances of these letter cars, or the ability to work on more tricky things inside them. He's always willing to advise you (free) on a restoration technique, and he's got a ton of oddball stuff on his shelves to sell you. It's too bad some have had poor experiences with him. Sometimes any of us can have a problem with someone others find easy to work with. I'm sure we can all name a few. But I have to say that during the year and a half (so far) of my C restoration he's been pretty indispensable to me. I agree it's nearly impossible to get to talk to him sometimes, but when I do it turns out worth it.
