[Chrysler300] 58 transmission

Hello all, 
I am wondering if anyone can help me clear up up what automatic Transmission I have and how much trans fluid it may require. 
I will list the numbers on the case and the problem. 
First the torque - something transmission was leaking at several locations which I have now stopped (at least for the moment). In doing so I drained all the fluid. 
My quandary now is how much does it require to fill it back up. The information for the year Chrysler reads 8 3/4 quarts! 


I put back the oil which came out which equaled (by Measure) 5 quarts plus two new qts. The dip stick after running the engine and checking it in neutral shows about 1 INCH, above the full line; I have no idea if the dip stick is original. 


I have never known a tyranny except the automatic in my 'deuce and a half' army truck, running around the tropics, to hold that much fluid. 


Here are the numbers, can anyone glean what automatic it is and how much fluid it requires? Then I can mark the dip stick for the future. 


drivers side trans case: 
2400570 DP 
OID 
passenger side case: 
2464217 DP 
OID 


It is a 1958 Chrysler Hemi but I do not know if the trans is original.
