[Chrysler300] '57 Door check strap disconnect

My body guy just threw up a white flag.  He's is trying to remove the door, and can't see an easy way to remove the door check strap.  He says it's riveted on the jamb end, and he can't get at the door end of the strap.

What's the right way to do this?
