Thanks for the lead!  I was able to contact Rene and purchase the engine,
hopefully to be installed in an engineless C-300 now owned by another member
in Iowa.  It is the exact C-300 I first saw at age 17 in Des Moines.  I've
already purchased and restored a correct air cleaner but will have some
parts needs to restore the car.  Rene says this engine has chrome rocker arm
covers and I'll need a painted set.  I'll be back on the server after I get
the car bought and delivered to California.  My plan is to do a documented
restoration as the basis for a C-300 standard manual and will need a lot of
help creating the kind of reference manual I have in mind.  I'll start with
the engine assembly.
