[Chrysler300] Setting the pace

I noticed that car, description and price. The Pacesetters regularly sell
so there is an established market--in the 20's typically. I did note with
interest that it was one of several equipped to be a pace car and thought
"maybe a 413/ram engine?" I recall one being advertised recently with a
413, so apparently the bigger engines were available. Makes sense and would
have made a nice package. Then I spotted the 383 note on the appraisal.
Let's watch this one.
I always wondered why they didn't make the Pacesetters full-blown letter
cars. And, although they call the color Pacesetter Blue, it sure looks kind
of green to me and I thought racers were pretty superstitious about green
cars.
C-300'ly,
Rich Barber

Subject: [Chrysler300] Classic Car Appraisals
I wanted to get other Club members' opinions about appraisals of classic
vehicles, including our 300 Letter Cars.
For example, there is a shiny but very ordinary and somewhat modified 1963
Chrysler 300 Pace Car convertible on eBay at the moment. Ordinary in that it
has a 383, and no A/C. I say lightly modified, as it has dual-circuit
brakes and a front disc brake conversion. Here's a link to the auction:

The appraisal value for this car is listed at $352,000. I'm no professional
appraiser, but that most certainly exceeds the value of that car by at least
ten times over its actual value.
Your thoughts/opinions?
300ly,
John Spiers
