[Chrysler300] How I Got 62 H Top Cylinders Working

Rolland; My 62 300 convert - setting for some 25+ years- the pump and
motor were full of dried up break fluid. The lift cylinders were frozen
- could not get them to move when I had them out and clamped in a large
vise. I ended up adapting my 5 ton porta power hose end with fittings
that I could tread into the cylinder ends where the hoses connect.
Pumping the porta power broke the pistons free. I then alternately
filled the cylinders inlet and outlet with alcohol and worked the
pistons in and out many times - thus flushing out the old dried up
crud. I had purchased new hoses and got a pump out of a wrecked 89
Chrysler K car convert. The pump's rubber foot print perfectly matched
the original mounting holes and hoses connected. My top works up/down
beautiful, fast and is immediately responsive. I had the cylinders,
hoses and pump (with the filler hole up) connected and, using
battery/jumper cables ran the pump fwd and reverse, adding trans fluid
as I bleed the air out of the cylinders and hose. I then reinstalled
the the whole works (still hooked together) into the 62.
