[Chrysler300] u-joint problems / 57c

old billlllll in kennewick washington is having u-joint problems on his 
1957 chrysler 300.

the boot gizmo flew apart (it was a fakey joe affair).

is there a boot gizmo available?

is there a rebuild kit available for the u-joint in the front?

my mechanic buddy says it is ever so slightly loose.

is there any danger in driving (carefully) with no boot gizmo and ever 
so slightly loose?

any advice on this project would be appreciated.
