[Chrysler300] Lancaster--the meet, not the bomber

Good evening,
It is getting toward mud season in Maine. We know that, because the
temp. went to about 40 today, and will again tomorrow, if the weather
service is correct. And it's raining, not snowing. And it's not
freezing. All this points toward mud season. Mud season is followed
by black flies. Together, they are the reason we never invited the
club to Maine during May. The days are also longer; sun here goes
down just before 5 now--a lot better than 3:37 at the winter
solstice. So the combo of warmth, rain, and longer days made me think
about the Spring Meet.
Spring Meet is not in Maine this year, but in Lancaster, PA. My
grandfather Bowditch and I are planning to get there in the L. My
other grandfather--who many of you know--Rust, is planning on getting
there in his J. Grandfather Rust and I visited the day before
yesterday at his house. (His bride, Ann, makes a lobster roll to die
for!) We were talking about our foray to Lancaster, and we settled on
the scenic route along the NJ/Pa border--that is after we get out of
New England.
When I got home that evening, I checked the atlas and looked at the
routes possible. In Maine, you get to go places like Wytipitlock and
Meddybemps and Passadumkeag, not to mention China (today I went there
and back). But from here to Lancaster you can go to truly more
wonderful places, like Blue Ball and Bird in Hand and Intercourse.
And if that's not enough, there's Bareville and Paradise. I
understand my grandfather Rust has been to all of them!
Now last year at this time, the weather here was about the same--you'd
could tell winter was getting done. And I was considering Eagle River,
Wisconsin. Carlton was chatting about how you could swim in the Eagle
River about the time of his meet. I wondered about that, and thought
it'd be fun to watch somebody else swim in the Eagle River. And I had
a great time with my grandfather Bowditch--even though we didn't see a
single soul swimming!
Pretty soon now it will be time to take the winter dust wraps off the
L. I probably ought to discover why the trunk gets wet inside when it
rains outside and maybe fix that. And I got to see why I can't get
enough volume out of the iPod when cruising down the road
(grandfather and I are "hip" you know). And I got to change out the
old "Save the Black Fly" bumper sticker for the newer, more
distinguished looking "Black Fly: Defender of the Wilderness" window
applique.
Well, I hope you all are planning to make the trip to Paradise---er--
Lancaster in May. The last thing I'm gonna do to get ready is take an
MFO in the L to Kezar Falls, and back--all in the same day.
