[Chrysler300] Console retaining cable for F, G & H

Hi Group, 



I am looking for advice on the repair of the retaining straps the keep the console cover from going all the way back on the hinge. 

I have both end pieces and have found replacement plastic covered cable. 

Does anyone know how to remove the old cable from the end pieces? 

I have tried heat and drilling without any success.
