I also have had very good success with Corbin clamps.  What I have found
over the years is that you must use the right size, and they work best with
a new hose.  I just hate the look of worm screw clamps on collector cars,
they look too much like a universal "hardware store" fix.  
 
I use a special KD tool #427, that I have had for years, it is made just for
Corbin clamps.  It has a long neck on it that is attached to a handle that
you turn, which expands the clamp and holds it in that position until you
release the pressure by unscrewing the handle.  Works great in tight spots.
Knock on wood, I've never had a failure.
