[Chrysler300] Ball Joint installation

Is it a common problem to not be able to get Chrysler lower control arm  ball 
joints all the way to the bottom of the arm.  I was applying an  inordinate 
amount of torque today but am about 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch from  bottoming the 
nut portion of the ball joint.  Checking my 57 C  it has the nut bottomed.  I 
may need a 10 foot pipe to go any  further.  I even unthreaded it and 
re-installed with no improvement.   Comments please?
