GENTLEMEN,
Where can I locate the Studebaker/Packard exhaust tips that replicate the
1955 300 exhaust tips, for #N551301?
Thanks for the help.

Hi Warren,
I have used Optima batteries for years with very good success. Only one
used in a modern daily driver failed on me.
Currently I have two 6 volt Optima's in use. One in my '55 NY T&C that was
there when I purchased it over three years ago. It has always performed
great and I've not touched the regulator. The other was new when I finished
the restoration on the '55 Imperial Newport which is probably five years
now. Also that battery sat around for probably a year before it was ever put
into use.
On the 6 volt Chryslers you can purchase a battery box through Packards
International http://www.packardsinternational.com/. This box looks very
close to a tar top battery and is designed to accept the Optima 6 volt
battery. The only difference is the location of the battery post. I did have
to replace the cables as one was to short and the other to long.
I know this doesn't answer your question about adjusting the voltage, but
I'm not sure you really need to.

I finally became tired of lead acid battery leaks and other problems and
purchased the antique auto battery optima package. Per the installation
instructions, unless the regulator is set to deliver 2-3 amps after the car
is driven 5-10mi. Charge rate should not exceed 7.2 V at 1500rpm. All to
prevent overcharging which voids the warranty. The shop manual suggests the
current regulator is set to deliver 43-47amps, a long way from 2-3 amps. Has
anyone successfully been able to reset theirs to meet the optima specs. If
so how?
DC generator can develope very high current and an AC generator is self
limiting inheirently. DC generators therefore need cutout contacts.
Following storage, charging system may well be called upon to replenish
above the 2-3 A specified for 20+ miles at 7.2 V. So, this does puzzle.
Now, if the battery is at full charge, the car is started and run 5-10
miles, then at proper regulation 7.2 V, current should then be 2-3A. This, I
challenge, is what is meant. No adjustment should be made to the current
cutout, I would say.
