[Chrysler300] 57 392 fuel pump

Anyone know any tricks or tips or things to watch out for when changing a fuel pump on a 57?
I'm going to change mine as when I changed my oil this past weekend, the old oil didn't smell 'right', almost as if it had a tinge of gasoline mixed in.
I suspect that possibly the original 50 year old diaphragm may be allowing some gasoline to get into the crank case?
Before washing lubrication away from my bearings with gas contaminated oil, I thought the fuel pump would be a good low-dollar insurance policy.
I'm interested in other members' opinions on this.
