>From time to time my small potatoes ISP gets blacklisted for real or
imagined sins of their customers. I have notified my ISP of the problem by
forwarding the bounce message to them. My ISP has always been able to clear
up the blockage and resume communications. I recommend anyone experiencing
blockage to another ISP contact their own ISP with enough information to do
battle. If your ISP can't or won't clear the blockage, you might want to
change horses.
That will enable you to remain in good communication about our 300's as well
as other folderol.

I hear you Mike,
More correctly from my perspective, perhaps these ISP domain IP address
ranges provided to customers for their domains were originally
blacklisted some time ago due to them being a high SPAM source? But
blacklisted, they are, and if this was ever corrected they have not been
reinstated.
Even if I use my Telstra "Bigpond" web mail account! It bounces. The
only way I can e-mail Comcast is via my hotmail account. It is
definitely a problem they have with my ISP hosted domain's.
Perhaps one day it will be fixed.
Regards
Sean
P.S. What is your letter car favorite?

Just so you understand, Sean -- the blacklist(s) I refer to are not SPAM
filters. SPAM filters attempt to identify SPAM messages at the server or
client system, and so mark/isolate/or delete them accordingly. The SPAM
filter may hold known e-mail addresses of SPAMmers, but nearly all (if
not in fact all) SPAMmers never use the same e-mail address twice, so to
do so is basically a total waste of resources..
The blacklists, meanwhile, block messages from entire domains, i.e.
every e-mail address at the listed domain.

You hit the nail on the head here Michael. The problem is that
Comcast
do not appear to be maintaining some very old SPAM filter lists,
some of
which I believe originated in Holland?. For Telstra/Bigpond to
be
blacklisted does not make sense, they are one of the biggest and
most
profitable Telco's in the world. The're no small Tinpot ISP that
for
sure.
Perhaps this is some commercial deal??
The thing is to get this fixed, somebody has to be maintaining
what ever
SPAM filters they have running. We all know how that works in
IT!
We'll get a "roundtoit"
Ever seen a roundtoit?
Never mind

Sean

The most likely reason for the e-mail getting bounced is that
Telstra is
on the Comcast's "blacklist" of naughtly e-mail domains, or the
blacklist that Comcast uses. There are hundreds of blacklists,
and
around four dozen of them are significant (heavily used by
e-mail
servers).
If Telstra is on the blacklist Comcast's uses, all e-mail
received by
Comcast from Telstra e-mail accounts will be bounced.
99.99% of the domains that get on any of the blacklists is
because SPAM
has been detected as originating from the domain somewhat
regularly.

To Tony, Jim and other "Comcast"ers, Just to confirm, yep they
bounced
back, never mind. Will have to resort to my wife's hotmail
account in
future.
Any other OZ on NZ letter car people out there with same
problem?
