Hi Jim,
I have also replied to you both via the list and Comcast ISP. As I
explained to Tony, for some reason, Comcast is one of the only ISP's I
know in US that blocks Our Telstra ISP mail. Telstra are our big guys,
like what Bell is to you blokes. I still can't work out why it does
this. Otherwise I would keep in touch with many of you Comcast guys more
regularly.
Lets also see if it gets through to you direct, probably not.
Thanks for the info. I have appreciated your help at times in the past
Jim.
I have visited that site, he doesn't appear to be a trader though?
I would love to get one Jim, doesn't look like there are too many lying
around though. $ 700.00 sounds good to me, but I am guessing it might be
a little more if one pops up?
Best regards
Sean in OZ

Sean,
Maybe you've heard of these sites by now-
http://www.roadkillontheweb.com/arp.html
http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Accessories/HiWay/index.htm
I see the units on ebay from time to time (one was on over the weekend,
may still be there). Looks like they sell for $400-700. Jeff Carter
sells replacement foam pads for the turntable, a common repair issue.
Once it gets brittle they won't play when the car is moving. I thought
mouse fad foam was about right if you want to try 'em yourself. I
remember a Forwardlook thread a few years ago that a replacement stylus
is available.
You have to have the right factory radio to power up and play the hifi.
I know the 57 Chrysler search tune did it. There's a special plug-in on
the back of the radio for the hifi harness. Last are also brackets to
hang the unit under the dash. Not so hard to fabricate.
Records do show up from time to time. Maybe $8-30, mostly 1950's easy
listening stuff.
They're more of a gee whiz factor. Not so good playing a tune on the
road.

Thanks Hoker.
Any you guys take a guess at what you would stretch it to
acquire one of
those earlier units?
If one comes up I don't want to insult anyone with an
unreasonable
offer.
Regards
Sean
