I'm copying Ray at the indicated e-mail address to see if he feels his ears
burning as folks say good things about him.

I just reread a reference to his interview of Carl Kiekhaefer in 1981 that
documented one of the 300-B race cars that Carl had kept pretty much as-was.

Ray Doern was one of the founding members of the Chrysler 300 club Inc, aka
the "Western Club".   Ray was instrumental in creating a means for 300
Letter Car owners to share their love for the cars and wrote a number of
articles published in the 300 Club Inc.'s magazine Brute Force.  I don't
know where he is now, but he really loved 300s, and he was a nice guy to
boot.
