[Chrysler300] 1955 C-300 Armrests

Do the arm rests bolted to the front doors of 1955 Chrysler 300's have the
half-open end of the finger slot facing forward or backward?  Is there a
preferred brand and color vinyl dye for these?  Where is a good place to buy
vinyl dye?
