RE: [Chrysler300] Of All Places

Jack and fellow 300 Club members...
I too had a strange coincidence recently. While returning from the Lake
Havasu AZ car show on 10/23 I stomped for gas in Ash Springs NV along US Hwy
93 about 150 miles N of Las Vegas. I am filling the tank when out the front
door of the station/store walked a man and a woman over to my 57 300C coupe.
The lady asked if the car was a 1958, to which I replied that it was a 57.
She then told me she and her husband had a 59 300. I asked where they were
from and they said Calgary, Alberta and they were on their way to AZ for the
winter. I then recalled seeing an ad on the Club webpage for a 59 300 in
Alberta and asked if that was theirs.... It was and we had a very nice
conversation while I finished filling the tank. They told me that their 59
was the sexond one off the assembly line for 1959 VIN# M591-100002 and that
it was originally Bronze Metallic in color. It turned out that the couple
was Art and Liz Moore, fellow Club members. This is not a very heavily
traveled road such as I-15 for N and S bound traffic, so it was a real
pleasant surprise to meet these two very nice people out there in the middle
of nowhere. It is really a small world.

BTW, I average right at 17.5 mpg for the roundtrip from Twin Falls, Idaho to
Lake Havasu, AZ. I was pleasantly surprised since that was the first long
trip I had taken since doing the carburetor modification recommended in
the Chrysler Bulletin issued in the summer of 1957. Prior to that I was
getting about 14.3 mpg. We ranged between 70 and 80 mph almost entirely on
two lane roads for the trip.

George

I just returned from an extended road trip thru several states. While
driving my (gasp) Crown Vic thru Bishop California on November 1st, I
couldn't help but notice a pristine black G hardtop stopped at a service
station. Does it belong to someone on the list?
