Many, many years ago I filled up my " G " and gas was leaking out. If I remember correctly it was coming out where the gas tank sending unit was and a new gasket stopped the leak. I am pretty sure you can change the gasket without lowering the tank....but I may be wrong. While the sending unit it out check the condition of the gas filter sock and replace if necessary. There is also a short rubber hose that you can also change....it could be leaking from the hose but I would think that while it might leak with a Full tank it would also leak while driving.
One last thing to check while your down there. Understanding that you live in Sunny Califonia where you do not have corrosion problems like here on the Right coast, check to see if the grounding strap is not corroded and rusty. Since your gas gauge is working it's probably fine.
Hope this helps and good luck !!!

Every time I fill up the '62 300, it leaks gas from the tank area...like the front section more so than the rear. If the tank is 3/4 full, or less, it does play the drip, drip game.
Where shall I check for a fix?
