I remember a story in one of the club news publications that said mixing the two types is a no-no.  
A Dextron/Type F mix is worse than either all Dextron or all Type F.

That is one reason why my G has Dextron, because I know I can get it anywhere, anytime, relative to F.

Not that it matters to anyone, but I have very crisp shifts and no trouble leaving second gear rubber with Dextron, and can't imagine a change to type F giving me any more 'crispness' than I already have.  I've already changed the U joints once thanks to the 495 ft lbs of torque and the Torqueflite trans with Dextron.

There has been a lot of discussion on ATF for our  Torqueflites, but no one 
has addressed the issue of mixing different types of  fluids.  Say, for 
example, your tranny is low on fluid, and the only  station nearby doesn't have any 
Type F, only Dextron.  Can one safely put  in a quart of Dextron into a 
transmission filled with Type F?  Terry  McTaggart
