Hi All, strange problem I seem to be having with aftermarket fan clutches for my 70 300. The replacement fan clutches seem to have a longer shaft ( easily an inch ) than the few surviving oem used examples I have left. In fact new Hayden etc aftermarket ones seem to have a longer shaft than "old" aftermarket ones I have. Needless to say I never had clearance problems when uprgading to 4 core radiators here in Phoenix until this time. I now have no clearance for the recored rad and didnt realize I had so little clearance available with the 3core. After all, I had done this modification to several big block fuselage bodied Chryslers before with no problem. Yes, we checked to make sure the mounting brackets are where they are supposed to be and the tanks areright up against the radiator support. Has anyone encountered this before? Should I try a "small-block" part. Some suppliers have different part #'s for big and small block and some have the same. Same thing when looking up 383 vs. 440 cars. Any thoughts appreciated other than going back to three rows. Thanks !
