[Chrysler300] 300C Grille

Hi all,

 

I've been getting my 300C grille ready for re-anodizing, I noticed that the
grilles on both my other C and D , as well as all the other cars on the
internet I've looked at, have an upright segment missing from the passenger
side to accommodate the hood release mechanism. I thought this was standard.
But on the C I'm restoring all pieces are intact, this car has an earlier
build date, was this a mid-year hood release/grille change by factory or
were they simply snapped out over the years by owners yanking on the
latches?
