Jim: Those 2 large large brass looking (one on each carb) are used to set the idle. Remember that both carbs are used for idling on that cross ram set up. I believe that this information is in the special addendum which is specific to the 300G. It is service bulletin No 61-10 and issued on sept 29/1960.
