Here is what has worked for me. My building is in a semi rural area ---  next 
to my house.
 
I lay out mothballs around the inside perimeter of the building -- every 10  
feet or so -- in small pie tins. Then I place a pie tin of mothballs under the 
 front, middle and rear of each car.
 
I keep a radio playing 24/7 on a music station.
 
I have about 12 mousetraps set out around the inside of the building (42' x  
75') and have not seen a critter inside the place or signs thereof in the 5  
seasons it has been up.
 
I hope I have not just jinxed myself.
