Hi all:
Speaking of harmonic balancers, I just had a problem with my 1992 Mercury
Topaz' harmonic balancer. The rubber had completely deterioriated. I had to
have a valve job on the vehicle anyway so I had my mechanic obtain a rebuilt one
from The Damper Doctor in Redding, California. Cost to me was $62.00 plus
shipping both ways. The core had to be returned, otherwise, I would have had to
pay a $25 core charge.
In communications with Debbie, of the Damper Doctor, she said they can
rebuild any harmonic balancer. They set the timing mark to factory specs. In
addition, they give a 3 year warranty. New ones only give 1 year.
If you are interested in contacting them for a quote, go to their web site.
Since I am having trouble inserting their email address and URL into this
e-mail without getting the dreaded blue letters, please do a search for "damper
doctor" in Google. Sorry.
Good luck.
