A club member without email (he lives in a cave) sends me this to post regarding tires and rims: This excerpt is from the 1955 Chrysler owners manual. All Chrysler products from this year on had the "Safety-Rim Wheels". Just as it says, the tire will not come off the rim due to tire failure. All other manufacturer's rims do not have this feature. Nor do after market rims. This feature is exclusive to Chrysler even today. Think very carefully about the safety of your valuable car under these circumstances, no matter what "guarantee" you get for replacement rims. "Your Chrysler's TUBELESS Super Cushion Tires are of the latest, most advanced design--quieter, lighter weight, cooler running and give your car better traction. With "Safety-Rim Wheels, they give you unmatched protection against sudden tire failure. In case of a severe puncture which allows all the tire's air to escape immediately, the "Safety-Rim Wheel" will hold the tire to the rim, enabling you to bring your car to a smooth, controlled stop". ------------------------ Yahoo!
