Re: [Chrysler300] Special Stockton 300 Replacement Wheels

Hi to all,

I don't know the backside of the F wheelcover as I don't own one, but
if it is essentially the same as my 14 inch '61 NY (with 14 X 6.5 inch
size wheel) wheelcover, there are gaps in the springy thingys around
the backside of the wheelcover so that the anti-rotation"nubs" (
protuberances near the rim ) on the wheel fit into those gaps.

I think that if the F stock wheel (and other 14 inch Letter wheels)
have these "nubs" and that the stock letter wheelcovers have these
openings or gaps, then the new 14 X 7 inch wheels might better have
these nubs. Without them and if there is wheelcover rotation, (that
DOES happen) , you may run the risk of bending the valve stem leading
to ? Or, if unchecked and lodged against a bending valve stem could
our rare wheelcovers start flying?

Chrysler put the "anti-rotation nubs" on for a reason. If all the
Letter cars don't have any nubs, then all is well. Just bringing this
up for discussion before its too late.

   Hi to all,

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING THE STOCKTON WHEEL PROJECT.

I want to thank all of you who have participated in this project. I have
your names, ranks and serial numbers. We have plenty of 14 inch pre
orders
and minimal 15 inch pre orders. The 15 inch guys are chomping at the bit
though.

Special thanks to the "G" guys who have brought all the samples and also
there will be someone driving their "G" to Stockton to try on a wheel.

My "F" wheel just got delivered and there will be an "F" hubcap brought
over
in addition to the 1960 Chrysler regular hubcap that I sent.

WE NEED SOMEONE TO DRIVE AN "F" OVER TO STOCKTON once he has made up a
prototype.

We are losing some good will with my contact @ Stockton who has been
most
cooperative since he has gotten 40 phone calls directly from various
people
and some of us have "spun his wheels".

Got to straighten some things out:

1. These wheels are at a special price including powder coating. $85
for 14
inch and $105 for 15inch.

2. Regarding the 15 inch wheels, he had made them for someone before and
they are readily available for $135 each. We must pre order 24 wheels
to get
the special price. So far we have 4 from Jeff Gretz - with interest
from Ed
Jasinski and from Tony Bevacqua. There may be more.

3. These wheels are an OEM replacement that is made to modern standards
(AND
ARE STRONGER) and will support radials, in addition to bias ply, and
will
accommodate discs as well as drum brakes. Forgive me if I construed
that as
meaning "racing" wheels. I also would have considered the original 300
wheels as racing wheels. Nuf Said!

4. How about having the C-D-E-H-J & L owners wait until the "F" 14inch
wheels are prototyped and tried on a "F" and the "G" 15 inch wheels are
tried onto a "G" and then see if they fit the rest of the alphabet.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Tony
