Re: [Chrysler300] FW: 57 300C Exhaust

Hi John,

I agree that the stock manifolds are really restrictive. On our 300B I was able to purchase a set of NOS 4 bolt manifolds (Dodge Truck). They made a substantial difference in performance as well as sound with larger tubing through the system. For reference on these go to page 55 of CHRYSLER, "AMERICA'S MOST POWERFUL CAR" by Robert Ackerson.

Also I purchased a set of Sanderson Headers for installation of our 300C. As of this writing they have not been installed on the car. I know that a couple of the tubes must be dimpled for clearance issues. Refer to Wayne Graefen for particulars on this. The Dodge Truck manifolds will work, but there are also clearance issues and they sit right against the steering box. There is much more room in the '55 & '56 cars in this area.

As far as racing the cars I'm with you in that I'll never do that. I do however race to the garage to get one out and enjoy it. I was in the garage last night until after 1am working on our '55NY T&C replacing timing chain, oil pan gasket and water pump. Got it running and it seems to be fine, but a test drive later today will tell all. It will be our transportation to the Tahoe meet next month. Back at work before 7am today and I'm dragging right now!
