Hi Group,
I've been following this string all day.  I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.  
When I assembled my 300H three years ago, I polished all my stainless trim 
and wheel covers with my 3/4 HP polishing wheel.  I used grey compound and white 
rouge.  There was no plating on any of my parts.  All the parts polished up 
nicely. And the wheels turned as black as the paint on the car.  This tells me 
the trim is stainless without plating. Just thought you'd like to know...
