Zak, I think you have two choices. 1. Find better "core" pieces that had pits that are less deep or, if impossible to find, 2. Find another chromer that really know what he is doing. ( I strongly suggest this one) A chromer that specializes in pot metal restoration will fill the deeper pits rather than just grind them out which may essentially destroy the piece and then you have to find another one to replace the one they killed. I would NOT suggest you fill them yourself as they should really be drilled out and "solder filled" and if you try with the wrong method, material or temperature, kiss it goodbye. Many people advertise in Hemming's as Pot metal specialists. One such chromer is Paul's Chrome in Mars , PA. Not cheap but it will be done with guaranteed lifetime satisfaction. You can call others and ask them how they do pitted pot metal and what type of chrome they use. I would also recommend that you stay with one chromer as there are differences in chrome (hexavalent vs. trivalent chrome), and if you start mixing them, there may be variances in the "color" of the chrome if different chromer's pieces sit right next to one another. Good luck.
