[Chrysler300] early/late carb

I just found out that there were two carburetors for the 392 in 1957.  WCFB
2490S for the EARLY model, AFB 2448S for the late models.  How do you know
which is the correct one?  My car build date is 5/18/57.  Seems late to me,
but the one in it is the WCFB 2490S!!  Thanks for your input.
