I too used for years, in fact still have a few around.  They came in a can 
that snapped shut, although have found other brands in a plastic bag.  The 
oil like treatment of them was of great assist of picking up dust.   However 
I started using  ----quality-- micro fibre cloths some 5 or 6 years ago.  I 
find them superior, and nothing cleans the scum off the inside of your 
auto's windows better(except Glass Wax).  If you are not using to clean your 
windows you are missing a great detailing trick. You can now buy them as a 
"bug type sponge" for scrubbing your windows before drying them. They also 
pick up the dust, not merely move it around.

If your car is parked with no shade(often the case at a car show) a wash 
mitt with plain water works much better then Final Detail type products.  I 
too use it but only after I have thoroughly cleaned the car with water in a 
sponge bath and toweled dry, and only when the finish is cool(otherwise you 
can get streaking).  I have found that if applied to a dry car with any dust 
on it at all, that you tend to leave very fine swirl scratches in your 
finish, especially on lacquer which tends to be somewhat softer then poly 
enamel type finishes.

And let's not forget detailer clay, the greatest detailer invention since 
polishing buffers.  And never use Armor All on anything, that's correct 
anything.

Of course on a white car(like my B), you can use almost anything to clean 
except perhaps heavier grits of sandpaper.
