When restoring mine, I had some of the material still in the "cans".   I supplimented the material with 3M "Scotchbrite" mesh, cutting it so I could pass it inside under the metal fingers and in a size large enough so as not to get "sucked up". 
Don't know just how efficient it is but engine runs great!   Anyone else?
