Hi to John, Richard et.al., Let me get this straight. On the up side, a nice ?62 300H conv¹t sold for $54K. On the down side, 2 ?61 300G conv¹ts sold for $200K. Remember when, 10 years ago, finned letter cars were getting $125K? Just wanted to make sure I understood the postings. Tony 300-F Conv¹t From: Richard Osborne <richard@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2005 09:21:29 -0500 To: <JettLarry@xxxxxxx>, <crossram@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>, <chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] blue drinks and driving 300's John, I agree with yuour statement of being sad by the high prices of the 2 G convertibles. I watched each of these cars go across the block and felt dissapointment each time. I have started to look for the next project (with a convertible in mind) and now fear that everyone with ANY '61 Chrysler will feel it is worth big money. We saw this happen with E and B bodies because of a few Hemi cars. This seems to be a trend, however. I was shocked when I had my G coupe appraised for insurance last Fall. I don't think the car is worth what they said it was. It's nice, but not THAT nice. I would like to think that these were die hard enthusiasts that paid big money for cars, but I fear the speculators have jumped into the mix. On the up side, what appeared to be a nice H convertible went through the auction yesterday for $54K. Just my thoughts, Richard Osborne G coupe that gets driven A LOT (assuming the freeze plugs haven't popped) >>> "John J. Hertog" <crossram@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> 01/31/05 1:38 AM >>> From: <JettLarry@xxxxxxx> .... At every watering hole and top notch eatery I ordered a drink with the only requirement being that it be BLUE. Jeez, Larry, a good thing that there was some 300-related content to your missive ! I'd hate to have to throw the book at you for discussing BLUE alcoholic beverages on the Club's listserver ! Say, there are quite a few top notch eateries and watering holes in the Scottsdale / Phoenix area ... feeling no pain? To get back on topic - Chrysler 300's - I am scratching my head trying to make sense of this weekend's events at Westworld. What happened? Why did two 300G convertibles, previously worth about $80K, $100,000 tops, sell for twice that amount? What did I miss? Being the owner of two such convertibles, an "F" and a "G", I should be elated ... but I am not, far from it; I really do not care what my cars are worth - I own them because I love them, and want to enjoy them - that is, enjoy them by doing with them what one is supposed to do with an automobile: DRIVE IT ! Seeing these over-restored automobiles going across the block made me sad that they probably will never really be driven again, the way a 300 is made to be driven - fast and hard, on long highway trips. There are still some of us who will drive their 300's, thank God - and there are still 300 owners who are not into it for the money.
